"Smarty Boy is a shelter cat, golden fur, beautiful temperment. He
acquired his name because he's the brainiest cat I've ever known. Here
is an example:
He jumps up on our etagere and gets up on his hind legs to reach
a bowl that is on the top shelf. He puts his face into the bowl,
grabs his toy mouse in his teeth, drops the mouse to the floor, then jumps
down and looks at us. He wants us to hide it somewhere (we usually
hide it under the rug) so that he can find it. I've never had a
